With institutional clients representing more than 90% of assets under management, K2 has naturally built an infrastructure and approach that is especially well-suited to meeting the investment and reporting needs of large institutions. The firm has done so, however, without sacrificing the values upon which it was built. Throughout its growth, founding partners William Douglass and David Saunders have diligently sought to maintain an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and service-centered focus at K2. The result is a culture of service and accessibility, predicated upon institutional scale support.
K2 has extensive experience working with institutions (public and corporate pensions, foundations/endowments, etc.) and as such is very familiar with their specialized needs and requirements. In addition to its role as a discretionary investment advisor for both commingled and separately managed customized fund of hedge funds portfolios, K2 also provides non-discretionary advisory services as well; collaborating on the implementation of core-satellite portfolios, and advising in certain ‘legacy’ situations (where, for example, an investor’s investment/portfolio is assigned to K2 to review for redemption, reconstruction, or ongoing monitoring). In short, the firm has worked closely with public plans for many years to develop, analyze, and ultimately implement a broad range of innovative and flexible hedge fund solutions aimed at meeting specific requirements, investment objectives, and investment guidelines.
